About Us

ChristCentral Church is a reformed charismatic church, which partners with Commission, part of the worldwide Newfrontiers family of churches.

We are a family, comprising of different ages, races and life experiences, who seek to make Christ central in all we do; in our relationships, our worship, at work, at university and serving and caring for those around us.

Richard and Naomi Shaw planted the church in Portsmouth in September 2001.  Tim and Liz Blaber relocated to Portsmouth in Summer 2012 to transition the church to new leadership and in September 2013 the name ChristCentral was established. During January 2015 an Eldership team was formed, in June 2016, Deacons were appointed, and in September 2017 our Mission and Vision were launched.

The Eldership team preached a series on the ‘Church We Aspire to Be’ in September 2015. You can hear all about who we are and what we value by catching up with this series on our website or podcast.  We are a Worshipping, Gospel-Centred, Bible-Believing, Spirit Led, Praying, Diverse and United, Disciple-Making, Generous, Church for the City and for the Nations.

We have produced a book ‘ASPIRE’ looking at the aspirations and values we hold as a church. This book, which looks at the ten topics covered in the ‘Church We Aspire To Be’ series, is available for all our members.

In September 2016 the church took on the management of Portsmouth & Southsea’s only independent Christian Bookshop. This location now also serves us as a training base and worship space. Find out more here.

We are whole-heartedly committed to sharing the Good News about Jesus Christ – His life, death and resurrection – in the belief that this simple yet powerful message has the potential to restore a true friendship with God.

Our Mission:

To Bring Hope and Share Truth; in, around and beyond Portsmouth.

Our Vision:

To see lives and communities in, around and beyond Portsmouth transformed by the Gospel, enjoying God, and glorifying Him in all things.
