Fearghal Kelly has been part of the eldership team since October 2023 and loves to think about how the church can learn from the Bible in our teaching and share the news about Jesus with others.
Fearghal became a Christian as a teenager through a local concert in a sports hall, and soon after found a church in his hometown of Maidenhead. He came to study at Portsmouth university in 2013, settling in to Christ Central Church as one of the students. He’s enjoyed helping people sing by serving on the visuals team, playing a part in our student ministry, as well as getting to open the Bible on Sundays to share about Jesus from it.
Giving people the chance to hear and respond to the message of Jesus has been a passion for Fearghal since he himself did not grow up in a church environment. That led him to join the university Christian Union as soon as he started at university and learnt a lot about the questions people have about Jesus. He loved being a part of it so much he went on to work with UCCF: The Christian Unions for nine years.
Fearghal is one of our Staff Elders, particularly giving his time to helping those involved in our teaching, groups, and evangelism.
He is married to Kerry and they have one daughter. Kerry and Fearghal love a good coffee shop, autumn’s jumper weather, crime dramas, and getting outside. Kerry and Fearghal both have loved looking out for international students who have moved to Portsmouth.
Fearghal would love for every person in Portsmouth to know that Christ Central Church would welcome them on their journey of discovering and following Jesus.
