EXODUS 19 This is a wonderfully illustrative passage as the Lord descends from heaven onto Mount Sinai. He comes down to be with his people and asks Moses to come up the mountain to meet with Him. The holiness and unapproachability of God is on display here, and He must act so that we can come. What is the significance of mountains in the Bible? Exodus documents the first corporate (gathered) encounters with God, as the people of Israel are called out of Egypt, God sets them apart, to be a distinct people. They are the only people out of all the nations of Earth, that God has chosen to reveal Himself to and presence Himself with. As we gather this term and explore the book of Exodus, we are to behold God and experience something of His glory, our gatherings are to reflect a distinctiveness ofGod's presence so that lives are transformed by encounter.
