He Sees Our Need
Jesus comes back to the other side of the shore, and a paralysed man is brought to Him. Seeing his immediate need is easy, he’s paralysed; but Jesus sees deeper. Jesus sees that what he needs is to have his sins forgiven. We are all like that, in need of Jesus; some needs more obvious than others, but what we really need is to know the forgiveness of God and the grace of Jesus. The gospel is good news, that we can come to Jesus as we are, be changed by Him and know the presence of God. From Series: "Matthew - Your Kingdom Come"
In January 2021 we spent time reading through The Sermon on the Mount in our series called “The New Normal”. As we worked through Matthew 5, 6 and 7 we looked at what God’s Kingdom looks like, what it means to be truly blessed and how we can know and love God more. Now, Jesus goes out, into the crowds, traveling round demonstrating the coming Kingdom. We see Him heal, call people to repentance, forgive, raise the dead, cast out demons, calm the storm and eventually calls his disciples to do the same. We want to see His Kingdom come in this city, we want to see Jesus move and we want to do the things we see Him do. In Portsmouth we want to see the light shine in the darkness; that’s who Jesus is, a light in the darkness and the darkness cannot over come.
