Pergamum: Conquering Compromise: Rev 2:12-17
Jesus then speaks to Pergamum. This church, and these people, have been surrounded by their culture for so long. They have begun to compromise to the culture of the world around them. Their call to endure is to be distinct, to stand out and be different for the sake of Christ. Jesus promises that there will be a victory, they will win the race that is set before them if they do not give in to the pressures that surround them. The book of Revelation, written by John, is the revelation (you guessed it!) of Jesus Christ, for the glory of God. In Revelation 1-5, we see John’s Vision of the Risen Lord, the letters to the seven churches of Asia Minor and we finish with a glimpse into the Throne Room of Heaven.
