Message: “What matters most in the world?”

Fearghal Kelly - November 30, 2025

What matters most in the world?

What matters most in the world?

Matthew 13:44-52 There have been two ways to interpret the parables of the treasure and the pearl. 1) The Kingdom of God is of such value that it’s worth you and I giving up everything to have it. 2) The people of God’s Kingdom are of such worth to God that he would do anything to purchase us. Both interpretations agree you and I being part of the Kingdom is of surpassing value. It’s true that Jesus would purchase us at the cost of his life. It’s true that everything is ‘loss’ compared to the ‘gain’ of knowing Jesus. What can make us doubt the worth of his Kingdom is seeing ‘a bad catch of fish’ in the net. Jesus will deal with the mixed catch in the end.
