CloseFollowing Jesus' preaching and miracles Peter reports that some believed he was the return of Elijah. The famous prophet remains a prominent figure in the history of God's people - a powerful servant of God. However, Elijah was only a man - just like us. Elijah knew what it was like to suffer. He doubts God, fears man, and even asks God to take his life - yet he saw great miracles, received provision from God and spoke God's truth impacting the whole nation of Israel. Learning from Elijah's teaching, and his own experiences, we can see clearly how powerful our God is, how He chooses to bless us and provide for us, and how holy and beyond us He is. Yet still we learn how God calls us to be involved, persistent in prayer and obedient to His will.
