Welcome to Portsmouth!
We love our students here at Christ Central Church, we want you to feel part of the family and experience a home away from home with us. We’re located right by Portsmouth University Campus, around the corner from Portland Building, we love our location making us a popular student church for Portsmouth.

Sunday Mornings
On Sundays, you’ll find most of our students at our city centre congregation (PO1) getting stuck in. From leading worship, to leading Kids Work, being a part of the set-up and hospitality teams, you can find students involved and serving in all aspects of our morning together. Whilst we love to serve you, and pour into you during your time in Portsmouth, we also love to see you grow in your God-given gifts and are so blessed by the way our students serve us.
You can always find a group of students chatting together after the service or a group mingling and meeting new members of our church family. With a not-so spontaneous (as they’ve started doing it almost weekly!) pub lunch afterwards, there’s plenty of opportunities to meet other students and church family.
Student Groups
Our groups are at the core of what we do here at Christ Central, meeting together, encouraging each other and opening God’s word together. We have a student-specific Life Group that meets on Tuesdays at 7:30pm that we’d love you to join, but if you’d like to be in a group with a cross-section of the church, you’re more than welcome to join any group! We also have activity groups that help you make friends and find a place to belong.
International Students
We belong to a global movement of churches and are passionate about helping international students grasp the Christian faith. As a ‘sending’ church, our mission extends around the globe, and we are privileged to have had students from over 30 nations part of our family. This is why we have LIVE audio translation in nearly 200 languages via Breeze, just bring headphones with you and scan the QR code.
We have particularly close links with University of Portsmouth Christian Union where people from around the world gather together to pursue mission on campus. Friends International exist to help connect international students to the church and there are many other Christian societies on campus, such as International Fellow of Christian Students (IFCS) and PENSA. We’re committed to working together to grow your faith and engage you in mission so you’re equipped with the gospel.

Through our Disciple-a-Student initiative you have the opportunity to be paired up with a more mature church family member to open the Bible with them, grow in your knowledge of God’s Word whilst also doing life with them.
What Our Students Say
Student Team
Our entire PO1 congregation exists to help students encounter God, grow in their faith and connect with others on the same journey. We want every student who visits the church to feel like they have found a home away from home. Olivia and Theo are the main points of contact for students in the week. Theo looks after the student mid-week group, there’s a vibrant WhatsApp chat, and we’ll quickly pair you up with older people to read the Bible if you sign up for Disciple-a-student.
