What We Believe

We are members of the Evangelical Alliance and fully embrace their Statement of Faith:

We believe in…

  1. The one true God who lives eternally in three persons—the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
  2. The love, grace and sovereignty of God in creating, sustaining, ruling, redeeming and judging the world.
  3. The divine inspiration and supreme authority of the Old and New Testament Scriptures, which are the written Word of God—fully trustworthy for faith and conduct.
  4. The dignity of all people, made male and female in God’s image to love, be holy and care for creation, yet corrupted by sin, which incurs divine wrath and judgement.
  5. The incarnation of God’s eternal Son, the Lord Jesus Christ—born of the virgin Mary; truly divine and truly human, yet without sin.
  6. The atoning sacrifice of Christ on the cross: dying in our place, paying the price of sin and defeating evil, so reconciling us with God.
  7. The bodily resurrection of Christ, the first fruits of our resurrection; his ascension to the Father, and his reign and mediation as the only Saviour of the world.
  8. The justification of sinners solely by the grace of God through faith in Christ.
  9. The ministry of God the Holy Spirit, who leads us to repentance, unites us with Christ through new birth, empowers our discipleship and enables our witness.
  10. The Church, the body of Christ both local and universal, the priesthood of all believers—given life by the Spirit and endowed with the Spirit’s gifts to worship God and proclaim the gospel, promoting justice and love.
  11. The personal and visible return of Jesus Christ to fulfil the purposes of God, who will raise all people to judgement, bring eternal life to the redeemed and eternal condemnation to the lost, and establish a new heaven and new earth.

Our Faith Explained:

The historical evidence overwhelmingly supports the existence of a man called Jesus who claimed to be God who walked the earth over 2,000 years ago and was crucified for his so called ‘blasphemy’.

The non-Christian historian Josephus who was alive during these days wrote this:

“Now there was about this time Jesus, a wise man – if it is lawful to call him a man, for he was a doer of wonderful works. A teacher of such men as receive the truth with pleasure; he drew over to him both many of the Jews and many of the gentiles. He was the Christ, and when Pilate, at the suggestion of the principal men among us had condemned him to the cross, those that loved him at the first did not forsake him, for he appeared to them alive again on the third day, as the divine prophets had foretold”.

This is such an interesting quote especially in view of the fact it comes from someone who wouldn’t have an interest in communicating the message of Christianity. So what is the core message of Christianity that we believe in here at ChristCentral Church?

The bible explains that Jesus Christ was born of a virgin, that he was fully man and fully God, that he lived a perfect life performing miracles, showing compassion and revealing the Father to those around Him. Despite being innocent of all crimes, he was treated as a common criminal, unjustly condemned to a horrific execution being crucified next to two thieves. After his crucifixion Jesus was taken to a tomb and miraculously rose to life by the power of God’s Spirit after three days.

Romans 10: 9 says this: “…if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

His suffering on the cross paid the penalty for every wrong thing I or you have ever done and will ever do. For all who personally say ‘yes I believe that Jesus did this for me’ is the promise of eternal life and a right standing before God the judge.

This is the Good News about Jesus Christ and is the simple message we seek to deliver at ChristCentral Church.
